1) Accomplishments
In the past two years, as a Town Council member I have:
In collaboration with Dutchess County Executive and Planning Commissioner, Village and Town of Red Hook officials pursued funds for clean-up of the industrial waste site known as Perx. The award of $1.6 million was granted in spring of 2005, with environmental clean-up to be completed by 2006.

Spearheaded an Affordable Senior Housing Project for Red Hook. Recruited an Affordable Senior Housing Committee, established the need, reviewed possible sites, interviewed developers, and selected a developer for a project in Red Hook. In July of 2005 funding granted to the developer for subsidies and tax credits for more than $10 million for the development/management of the proposed Affordable Senior Housing project to be located on the remediated site known as Perx.

In concert with Dutchess County Planning and the Red Hook Town's Agriculture and Open Space Committee sponsored the Red Hook Agriculture Protection Law, passed in 2003. Worked similarly with these groups to develop and ensure passage of a 2004 referendum authorizing the Town of Red Hook to bond $3.5 million for the purchase of development rights of important farm land.
Partnering with Scenic Hudson and Dutchess Land Conservancy, two large farms have reserved hundreds of acres in perpetuity.

Served as Town Council liaison to the new Senior Services Committee focused on providing information about existing programs and services for community seniors. Brought together experts to discuss legislative changes in health
insurance, legal issues and housing options. Sponsored the annual SENIOR FOCUS program, an Expo featuring providers of services to seniors and their families.

Worked with representatives from the Town Recreation Committee, Red Hook Little League and the Red Hook Soccer Club, actively reviewing potential acreage for establishing additional recreational fields sport's programs. Advocated for fiscally sound decisions, balancing need with financial impact on taxpayers.

2) Goals:
Meet the challenge of increasing residential property taxes by broadening the tax base by means of additional construction of small business and professional complexes. Reexamining the town zoning, identifying/establishing a business zone and promoting Red Hook's viability
for commerce.

3) Issues:
Affordability for young and old people to live in Red Hook.

4) How to address: Same as 2

5) Experience in getting things done, well connected with officials in Dutchess County (Executive, Planning and Legislature), and Village of Red Hook and Tivoli. Ability to problem solve, develop relationships, collaborate.
