On Attendance:
"...Marc Molinaro, R-Tivoli, ...among a handful of legislators
to post perfect attendance throughout the year.
MOLINARO, who also had a perfect attendance record in 2001, said he
takes seriously his obligation to represent his constituents.
"Whenever we are able to be in those chambers to represent the
people, we should be there," said Molinaro, who also serves as
Tivoli's mayor. "Whenever I am able to be in those chambers to
represent the people of my communities, I should be there. Whether there
are weighty issues or procedural issues, I should be there. That's why
I was elected. It is our job."
~ Daily Freeman, 2004
By Patricia Doxsey, Freeman staff 12/30/2004
”Among
Northern Dutchess legislators, Marc Molinaro, R-Red Hook; posted perfect
attendance for the full board meetings.
Molinaro, Hammond, Hutchings, Nesbitt and Rolison, also shared the distinction
of being the only five rank-and-file lawmakers to attend not only all
25 full Legislature meetings during the year, but also attending all
meetings of the committees to which they are assigned.
For Molinaro, chairman of the Legislature's Budget, Finance and Personnel
Committee and a member of the Family and Human Services Committee, that
means he attended 63 meetings during 2004.
"I was elected to do a job, I take that job very seriously and
if I'm able to attend a meeting I will do so," Molinaro said. "Red
Hook expects that of me and I expect that from myself."

Marc
Molinaro candidate for Dutchess County legislature
The
proof is in the progress:
During the last two year, representing just the Town of Red Hook and
its two villages, Marc has spearheaded efforts to preserve open space,
farmland and our natural resources. As sponsor of the county’s
Greenway Compact and Open Space Preservation Fund, he secured funding
for the protection of Red Hook’s ‘Bread Basket’ and
central corridor. Today, Red Hook is the largest recipient of county
assistance for farmland and open space preservation!
As a member of the Groundwater Sub-Committee, Legislator Molinaro has
sponsored bi-partisan proposals to protect our aquifers, wetlands and
watersheds. He continues sponsoring training from the Pace Land Use
Law Center for local decision makers, funding infrastructure development,
and promoting smart growth principles.
Opposing wasteful spending and new taxes, while demanding greater government
efficiency, Marc has helped to combat increased cost of living. While
the average county tax rate is lower today than when he began his service,
Marc believes we must do more to responsibly manage your tax dollars,
and push for reform. Greater government efficiency, sharing and consolidation
of services, all issues he has spearheaded, will help us control spending.
Marc knows we must also aggressively seek and secure grant funding for
major community projects, such as infrastructure development, emergency
response equipment and affordable senior housing.
As mayor of Tivoli, he has secured nearly $7 million for projects and,
as legislator Marc has sponsored countless grant funded programs and
projects. Marc has opposed any efforts to eliminate shared revenue from
our county to our towns, villages and cities. He has made difficult
fiscal decisions, led bi-partisan budget review processes and demanded
accountability all meant to strengthen Dutchess County’s financial
condition and limit the burden on local taxpayers
.
By partnering with Town, County and Village officials, Marc has worked
to secure Greenway, Quality Communities and funding assistance from
New York State for planning projects, parks and trails, bullet proof
vests, firematic equipment, and many other initiatives. Marc Molinaro
has and will continue promoting an end to the property tax as the means
of funding schools and education in our state.
By fighting for reform, promoting early intervention and enhancing domestic
violence, child abuse and predatory crime laws, Marc has led local efforts
to provide for the public safety. Marc believes we can better protect
our most vulnerable citizens by lobbying for passage of confinement
of convicted sexual predators, eliminate the statute of limitations
on rape and impose strict oversight of such criminals on parole.
Marc has not settled for government-as-usual, and has fought against
the status quo. He has sponsored aggressive early intervention programs,
a mental health court, legislation to remove state parole violators
from the county jail, and community policing to further ensure fair
and effective law enforcement, criminal and victim justice.
Marc doesn’t just talk about the issues we face; he works with
us to address them. Our county legislator is a caring, committed and
consistent public servant. Some communities have several county legislators,
others are split among legislative districts, Red Hook has only one
representative in Dutchess County government. Marc Molinaro has been
a strong and effective voice for us. He is honest, compassionate and
unyielding in his service to and throughout our community.
Marc Molinaro understands our community, he wants to bring us together,
and he will work hard to make a difference for all of us!
